No Game No Life is a Japanese light novel series by Yū Kamiya. The first season of No Game No Life was aired back in April 2014. After premiering 12 episodes in a single season, the anime concluded in June 2014. But there are lots of source materials to adapt for two or more seasons. Will there be No Game No Life Season 2?

No Game No Life is definitely a sought-after show. While No Game No Life Season 2 is yet to be greenlit, fans are ardently waiting for seven years to know the unanswered questions left in the first season.

The first three volumes were adapted for Season 1. As of February 2022, there have been 11 volumes published in Japan of the No Game No Life light novel series. So there is enough content for more seasons.

Meanwhile, we got a movie prequel to the series. It was named 'No Game No Life: Zero' and was released back in 2017 but the movie was not a continuation of season one. The movie No Game No Life: Zero adapted volume 6.

Neither Yuu Kamiya nor the production company Madhouse officially canceled the production of the popular show. On the flip side, unfortunately, still now there are no updates on the possibilities of No Game No Life Season 2. Is the future of No Game No Life Season 2 uncertain?

Generally, several anime projects are canceled because the makers didn't make enough profit as expected. That is why it is critical to examine No Game No Life's profitability and sales figures. But according to Anime Next Season, the anime series did really well and earned 550 pieces of merchandise and more than 55 figurines. So the series is said to be profitable. Therefore we could expect No Game No Life Season 2 in the future.

No Game No Life follows the adventures of step-siblings Sora and Shiro, who make an undefeated group of gamers 'Blank'. One day, they are challenged to a game of chess by Tet, from another reality. The two are victorious and are offered to live in a world that centers on games. They accept, lose the game and Tet sends them to a reality known as Disboard, where everything is decided by a game. Their next goal is to conquer sixteen separate species in order to challenge Tet to a game.

At this stage, it's really hard to speculate whether No Game No Life Season 2 could get the green light in the future. Stay tuned to Devdiscourse for more updates on the Netflix anime series!

Synopsis

This is a surreal comedy that follows Sora and Shiro, shut-in NEET siblings and the online gamer duo behind the legendary username "Kuuhaku." They view the real world as just another lousy game; however, a strange e-mail challenging them to a chess match changes everything—the brother and sister are plunged into an otherworldly realm where they meet Tet, the God of Games.

The mysterious god welcomes the two to Disboard, a world where all forms of conflict are settled through high-stake games. This system works thanks to a fundamental rule wherein each party must wager something they deem to be of equal value to the other party's wager. In this strange land where the very idea of humanity is reduced to child’s play, the indifferent genius gamer duo of Sora and Shiro have finally found a real reason to keep playing games: to unite the sixteen races of Disboard, defeat Tet, and become the gods of this new, gaming-is-everything world.

  • When an anime sexualizes an 11 year old girl, it gets a shit rating.

  • Quite possibly the worst content ever created, I’d rather watch Thomas Edison’s “Electrocuting an Elephant” 100 times before seeing this shit again

  • Shameless fanservice. All that needless sexual harassment comedies aren't funny, plus the fact that they got an 11-years-old involved in this mess just to appeal to some loli-fetish otakus is disgusting. The plot is manipulative sometimes, with heavy reliance on the emotional beats of a cliche development to establish certain characters' arcs rather than having genuine character developments. Most of the stuff doesn't even make any sense, and then we are spoonfed to believe that the main protagonists are some sort of genius and everything was within their calculations kinda crap. Otherwise, some of the games are pretty cool and smart though, particularly the word game and the gamble with the eastern federation (the chess game is stupid as fuck), however silly the games might be, at least it's better and more effort than 90% of the isekai animes out there.

  • Vile and disgusting show. I watched the first few minutes and the way they introduced the little sister is unforgivable. Dropped it a few minutes into episode 1 as a result. Do not watch this. It is morally so wrong. It is worryingly popular too and near the top of MALs popularity, plus its really highly rated on top of being popular. What is wrong with people. The art is ugly and over the top imo too, but it would be earning half a star for that disturbing character introduction alone. Vile. Anyone who likes this, what the hell.

Man(n) erahnt also schon wohin die Reise geht.
    Da es aber…

  • ...at least the music was nice?

  • Might be a 10 if I liked Incest

    Plot - 3/10
Characters - 2/10 (shiro is top 5 worse protagonist, of any show ever)
    Art, animation & sound - 7/10
    Impression - 2/10
    Overall - 3/10

Pros: nice OST; some funny moments; somewhat unique premise

Cons: Reverts back to generic isekai tropes; uncomfortable fanservice; detestable 2nd protagonist; plot is constantly driven by lame shitpulls

  • Watched this show along with Jason for my last anime pick. We go back and forth between our picks nightly. I really liked this one, it had the perfect mix of perviness and smart gameplay with awesome characters. I really appreciated that the games were pretty unique, I mean, if they just sat there and played checkers things would get old fast. My big complaint is the lack of more episodes, so things are just left hanging.

  • Fanservice, I get it, and at this point it should no longer surprise anyone, some animes are just like that, but I think we all agree that sexualizing an 11-year-old girl is wrong in every way, in addition to relating this girl in an incest type relationship with the main character. I think there was wasted potential, there are moments where this anime tries to be clever about the game theme, and it succeeds, it succeeds in a surprising way, but that moment is interrupted by unnecessary and somewhat weird fanservice. There are some "serious" moments, but as I mentioned, they get interrupted or end up with unnecessary fanservice. I had never been so bored with an anime before, it…

  • This contains incest and pedophilia.

  • This show is everything I hate about anime. Disgusting fanservice (including panty shots and shower shots of an 11 year old girl), characters DUMPING lore on you, characters screaming and crying constantly, and over the top humor with no substance. I would understand if only the first two episodes were like this, but IT DOESN'T STOP AND IT DOESN'T DO IT IRONICALLY. On top of it all, the show references popular anime and video games almost every episode.

No Game No Life feels like a AI program made it to appeal to weebs, and now Hayao Miyazaki, Hideaki Anno, and Satoshi Kon's criticisms about anime and otaku culture ring more true to me than ever.

I don't care how cool the games they play are, this is disgusting.
