I have looked in the Owner Manual and searched the forum without luck. What is the USB like plug to the right of the licence plate on the rear bumper, for?

It is a locking plug for the spare. Use your key to unlock and remove the plug, then you can insert jack tool to lower spare from under the truck.

Removing
the Spare Tire
Note: Remove the hook end from the assembled jack handle before continuing.
The spare tire is located under the vehicle, just forward of the rear bumper.
- Use your key to remove the lock cylinder from the access hole of the bumper to allow access to the guide tube.
- Assemble the jack handle as shown in the VT.

I was just looking at that plug 2 days ago and was going to see what it was for. You saved me the trouble.
