  "I'm waiting to be impressed!" Though it doesn't quite work, The League of Extraordinary Gentleman is an exciting tale of high adventure. Based on the Alan Moore/Kevin O'Neill comic, at the turn of the twentieth century a super-villain known as the Fantom attempts to instigate a world war, and in order to stop him a team of gifted individuals, including Allan Quatermain, Captain Nemo, Dorian Gray, Mina Harker, and Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, is assembled. Unfortunately most of the characters have been heavily altered and re-written in order to be action-heroes (which does a disservice to the source material). Also, the anachronistic tech is taken way out of hand; with Nemo having a supercharged race car, missile launchers, and a ridiculously large submarine. And the special effects are especially poor; particularly the CGI, which looks incredibly fake. Still, the action sequences are fun and bring a lot of energy to the film. Creative and visionary, The League of Extraordinary Gentleman has a fascinating concept, but it falls apart in execution.

  League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is based of the comic book series, and its much better than this garbage. My biggest problem with the film was the characters, who were stale and boring. I mean they have no motivation or likability, they are just fighting because the script tells them to. They come from stories from Jules Verne, H. G. Wells, Bram Stoker, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, H. Rider Haggard, Ian Fleming, Herman Melville, Oscar Wilde, Robert Louis Stevenson, Edgar Allan Poe, Gaston Leroux, and Mark Twain and none of them live up to these great authors. They follow every cliche a film can have, and they are just the biggest group of morons a film can have. The CGI was also another big problem with the film, and I hardy ever say that. They use it so much and yet it doesn't look good at all, I mean you can just see that they put absoloutely no work into trying to make it look cool, all they did was use special effects you could see on TV and put it into this movie. The acting was also terrible, I mean really Sean Connery? I didn't know any of these actors and I didn't want to after seeing how boring they were. They made this film to try and become a franchise, but in the end it was a lame and unimportant superhero movie that shows how exactly to ruin someones day.

  I really really wanted to like this movie, but somehow it turned out super-boring, kind of confusing , and poorly held together.
